All About These Balsamic Caprese Skewers

These Balsamic Caprese Skewers are perfect for entertaining, or just to have when you’re feeling snacky. Tomato, mozzarella, basil, and balsamic glaze… what’s not to love?! These make for a quick and delicious appetizer to set out for company, and they’re also perfect to have for a snack. They are light and refreshing, and they look so elegant that no one will have a clue that it only took you minutes to make!

What Does “Caprese” Mean Anyway?

“Caprese” is an Italian word that means “a salad consisting of slices of mozzarella and tomatoes, basil, and olive oil or Italian dressing.” I love this flavor combination in any form or fashion. If I’m at a restaurant and I see anything caprese on the menu, you can guarantee I’m going to order it. Additionally, for this dish, adding a drizzle of balsamic glaze really takes the flavors up a notch.

What You’ll Need

Equipment

  • Skewers

Ingredients

  • Grape tomatoes
  • Mozzarella pearls (I use BelGioioso brand)
  • Basil
  • Balsamic glaze (I use Nonna Pia’s brand)
  • Kosher salt

How To Make These Balsamic Caprese Skewers

First, take a skewer and assemble in this order: tomato, mozzarella pearl, basil, mozzarella pearl, tomato. Next, finish off with a drizzle of balsamic glaze. Finally, garnish with a sprinkle of kosher salt. That’s it!

Preparation And Storage

The great thing about these skewers is that you can prep them ahead of time and store them in the fridge. If I prep them ahead of time, I like to wait to add the balsamic glaze and kosher salt until right before serving.
