Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the story behind your blog name? I don’t see any recipes for fudge here.

My last name is Fudge, hence “Cooking With Fudge.” Maybe one day I will create a lightened up fudge recipe, but I’m a firm believer that some recipes should be kept as indulgent as possible and don’t warrant being messed with!

I calculated the points for this recipe using the Weight Watchers® app or website and it’s different from what you listed. Which one should I use?

When I calculate the Weight Watchers® points for one of my recipes, I plug in the exact brands, ingredients, and measurements I used. You will want to use the exact brands, ingredients, and measurements you used to ensure the correct point value is calculated. One would assume all brands of pasta are created equally, but you would be surprised at how vastly different they can be when it comes to points!

I calculated the nutritional information for this recipe and it’s different from what you listed. Which one should I use?

When I calculate the nutritional information for one of my recipes, I plug in the exact brands, ingredients, and measurements I used. You will want to use the exact brands, ingredients, and measurements you used to ensure the correct nutritional information is calculated. Also, not all nutrition calculators are created equal! The online nutrition calculator I use for my calculations may vary slightly from the one you use.

I used the nutritional information to calculate the Weight Watchers® points and it doesn’t match what you listed. Why is that?

Nutritional information includes caloric values for zero point foods. So while the zero point foods are zero points on Weight Watchers®, they still contain calories, and calculating the point values this way often will give you a higher number than what you’re seeing in my recipe. The recipe builder on the Weight Watchers® app or website recognizes the zero point foods, and thus does not include them in the point calculation.

I don’t have the exact brand/ingredients you used on hand. Can I make substitutions?

Of course! Although I can not guarantee how your results will turn out, you can absolutely make substitutions if needed. You will want to make sure you run your exact brands/ingredients through the Weight Watchers® recipe builder to ensure the point values are correct for what you used. If you do make a substitution, be sure to leave a comment and let me know how it turned out! I’d love to hear about it.

I want to make the points lower on a recipe by using a sugar alternative/fat free option. Can I do that?

Absolutely! Just like the question above, I can’t guarantee the results as I haven’t tried it myself, but you can definitely test it out. Again, you will want to make sure you run your exact brands/ingredients through the Weight Watchers® recipe builder to ensure the point values are correct for what you used. Leave a comment if you do try something different to lower the points and let me know what you did! I’m sure others would find this to be helpful as well.
